Media Art

Media Artist specializing in data-driven visual art and digital installations. My practice explores translating complex datasets into visual art using SideFX Houdini.

In a landscape of generative AI, standalone AI systems cannot independently interpret or accurately represent precise data. I believe structural accuracy requires human-driven data visualization pipelines, exploring the potential of generative AI strictly as a final-mile renderer to achieve the final aesthetic.

조화 │ Harmony

조화 (Harmony) is a Master’s thesis project that explores the transformation of complex statistical data into narrative-driven media art. The piece utilizes procedural systems to bridge the gap between cold data and emotive storytelling.

The storyline follows the socioeconomic evolution of South Korea, mapping the Consumer Price Index (CPI) against the country’s rapidly aging population. By visualizing these shifting demographics and economic pressures, the work explores the delicate balance (or “Johwa”) required to sustain harmony within a changing society.

8-BIT 서울 │ 8-BIT SEOUL

A stylized media art installation that reimagines the contemporary urban landscape of Seoul through a nostalgic, retro-futuristic pixel lens. The project captures the unique contrast between historical landmarks and modern city life, translating architectural geometry and bustling urban energy into vibrant, low-res aesthetics.

The production involved utilizing stock footage of iconic sights around Seoul, heavily compositing and stylizing the elements within After Effects to achieve the distinct 8-bit aesthetic

The piece was recognized with 2nd Place at the 7th Media Art Competition (DB World). As part of its exhibition run, the installation was publicly screened on the large-scale media walls at both the DB World corporate lobby and the Seoul City Hall media art gallery.
