Hi, I'm Jay.

I'm Tan Zi Jian, known as Jay, an FX artist and video editor from Singapore. I hold an MFA in Visual Contents from Dongseo University in Busan, where I studied on the Global Korea Scholarship.

My work sits where traditional 3D meets generative AI. Houdini gives me control over structure, physics and camera; AI tools let me finish shots faster than a full simulation pipeline would. I document that research on this site, and I package the tools I build along the way.

Before and alongside VFX, I edited for YouTube channels with over 1.5 million subscribers and made motion content for global brands, so I know how to hold an audience as well as how to build a shot.

I also do hands-on marketing. I ran the launch of Magician AI Assist, a Houdini plugin, through the communities where Houdini artists already gather, and I turn my blog breakdowns into reels that have grown my Instagram following by over 300%.
